Hi there. I stumbled into your restaurant on a hot summer afternoon in 2000 with my mom and sister - the three of us vegetarians! And very hungry at that. Even though there was nothing for us on the menu, the hostess said the chef could accomodate. We had no idea what treat was in store for us! The chef prepared each of us a unique dish. I don't remember exactly what they were (though I do know deep fried spinach and eggplant were involved) but they blew our minds - easily the best meal any of us ever enjoyed. The creme brulee was fantastic, as well. So was the coffee. Everything about the experience was lovely and we still talk about the Bistro to this day. I was struck with a bit of nostalgia when I dug up an old card from that visit and was happy to see that the restaurant is still alive and well. Is the chef still the same as the one who prepared our food in 2000? I'd love to know! It started with such LOW expectations. "Vegetable Platter", what a boring description. The waitress was not quite able to clarify either, except to say that the chef works with what he has on hand, each time he makes one it's different. (Inwardly I thought, oh great, veggie scraps that did not make it to the main dishes.) When our extraordinarily exquisite meals were presented, we ooooohed and ahhhhhhhed and could not get over it. Tasting was even better than feasting our eyes on our plates. Honestly, the meal we had that day became the benchmark by which I judge all other restaurant meals ever since."
